In this course, participants will learn about the Hand-Model of the Brain and the Benefits of Meditation.
Meditation practices have been documented for over 5000 years, though likely originated much earlier. Many cultures have meditation and mindfulness practices. The concept of “mindfulness” traces to the Pali words sati, which in the Indian Buddhist tradition implies awareness, attention, or alertness, and vipassana, which means insight cultivated by meditation.
Today, more and more research is being done on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation and we’re starting to understand processes that happen in the brain and nervous system when practicing meditation. In this course, participants will learn about the Hand-Model of the Brain and the Benefits of Meditation and take a deeper dive into the practices of Mindful Breathing, Heart-Centred Meditation and Mountain Meditation.
